FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ortho Active Named Canadian Distributor for ArmLock
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – July 27, 2026 – Ortho Active is pleased to announce that it has been named the Canadian distributor for ArmLock, a patented Canadian-developed medical device offering a new approach to the treatment of elbow tendinopathy.
Invented by Edmonton physiotherapist Mark Laurensse, ArmLock was created from a simple clinical observation: many patients with chronic tennis elbow present with tight, shortened forearm muscles that continue to contribute to pain and impaired function. Rather than relying on traditional counterforce compression, ArmLock places the involved forearm muscles into a gentle, sustained stretch, allowing patients to perform a targeted therapeutic treatment at home.
ArmLock is supported by University of Alberta research showing meaningful improvements in pain, function and grip strength with consistent daily use.
“ArmLock is exactly the kind of product we want to share with Canadian clinicians and their patients,” said Rob Tsujimura, Vice President of Ortho Active. “It is Canadian innovation. It is clinically thoughtful. And it challenges the standard way we have looked at elbow tendinopathy for decades. This is not just another elbow strap. It gives clinicians a different tool for patients who need more than compression and rest.”
ArmLock was developed to address lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow, one of the most common repetitive strain conditions affecting the upper extremity. Its patented design allows for a controlled stretch of the wrist and finger extensor muscles, helping restore mobility and reduce symptoms over time. “As a physiotherapist, I developed ArmLock because I kept seeing patients struggle with the same problem and the same limited options,” said Mark Laurensse, inventor of ArmLock. “My goal was to create a practical, evidence-supported treatment that patients could use consistently at home. Working with Ortho Active helps bring that approach to more clinicians and patients across Canada.”
As their Canadian distributor, Ortho Active will support ArmLock with national sales coverage, clinical education, product training and customer support for healthcare professionals across Canada.
