Orthomerica Pediatric UFO

The Pediatric UFO is a comfortable, prefabricated orthosis for stretching and maintaining dorsiflexion range of motion. This unique lower limb orthosis positioning the foot and ankle in an optimal alignment for placing a varied amount of stretch on the soleus muscle while the patient is sleeping. When used in conjunction with a knee immobilizer, this orthosis can also stretch the two-joint gastrocnemius muscle group.

The unique design supports the affected foot and ankle in a varied amount of dorseiflexion, applying a low load prolonged stretch (LLPS) to the soft tissues of the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. LLPS promotes gentle stretching, healing, and progressive remodeling of these tissues over time. The simple two-strap design allows the patient or family to easily adjust the amount of applied stretch to address both comfort and effectiveness.
